'''ETF2L''' (''European Team Fortress 2 League'') is a community project and is one of the world’s largest competitive Team Fortress 2 league. ETF2L hosts both [[6v6]] and [[Highlander]] leagues, including many other cups.

The site went live on November 11th, 2007, and has since been running 18 6v6 seasons (the "All F*cking Summer Season" from 2010 is excepted from the official chronology), 6 Highlander seasons, [[The Highlander Open]] Cup with over 250 teams and the [[Highlander Community Challenge]] in 2010/2011 with 846 teams.

The organisation is currently lead by the head admins of Sonny Black, emb and Permzilla. Previous head admins are CanFo, dAyKiLLeR, DeNeusbeer, Kop, d2m, Dave, RaCio, SnowiE and Crasp.

As of today, for all competitions that were held at ETF2L, a total of almost €14,000 in prize money was paid out and hardware prizes worth over €10,000 were provided.

== Format ==
ETF2L is currently on its 18th [[6v6]] season and 6th [[Highlander]] season. Both 6v6 and Highlander leagues consist of different skill levels, ranging from Division 6 (lowest skill level) to [[Premiership]] division (highest skill level). Divisions usually have a size of 6 or 8 teams. A season usually consists of 5 or 7 weeks of regular matches, and a week of playoffs.

Matches usually consist of two maps, each lasting 30 minutes. The following win conditions are used:
* On [[5CP]] maps, the map ends once the time limit runs out or one of the teams scores 5 more points than the opponent. In case of a draw after the time limit ends, a tiebreaker round, known as ''golden cap'', is played. The golden cap ends once one of the wins captures all points or 10 minutes pass, at which point the team currently in possession of the middle point wins.
* [[King of the Hill]] maps are played in a best of 5 format (first to 3 wins), without a time limit.
* [[Attack/Defense]] and [[Payload]] maps are played with [[stopwatch]] mode and are played in a best of 3 format. The teams alternate between attacking and defending; if team A defended first in the previous round, team B will be the first to defend in the next round. Most of the time, an A/D or Payload map is the sole map of the week, and as such are not combined with other gamemodes.
* [[Capture the Flag]] maps are played as best of 3 rounds, with each round lasting either 10 minutes or until one of the teams captures the intelligence 5 times in a row. If the match ends in a draw, a golden cap round is played. The golden cap round ends after 5 minutes or one capture. The '''ETF2L Nations Cup #4''' featured 36 teams and a prize pool of €1,000. All teams were divided into 8 groups of 4 or 5 teams each. The teams in groups B, C, E and F, which had 5 teams in it, all had one more match to play. Turkey, Bulgaria and Egypt dropped during the group stage. Ukraine was disqualified after one of their matches overlapped with a Highlander Nations Cup match, the players left their match early and one of their players forged evidence to get a default win granted.
This Nations Cup used the so called "North American" setup with 2 halves of 30 minutes each and only one map per match.

'''United Gaming Clans''' (UGC) is a Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, Fortress Forever and Team Fortress Classic League. UGC was founded in 2002 and has a solid history in Team Fortress Matchplay, hosting both [[6v6]] and 9v9 ([[Highlander]]) leagues.

== Format ==
UGC runs three 6v6 and Highlander seasons a year, running alongside each other. The Spring season usually starts in January, the Summer season in June and the Fall season in September. The Spring and Fall seasons usually run for 12-14 weeks, with 8-10 weeks of regular season and 4 weeks of playoff brackets. The Summer season usually comprises of 8-10 regular season week with no playoffs or participation medals (usually deemed as the "fun" season) and comprising of a more experimental maplist than the standard Spring and Fall seasons.

During the regular season, teams are placed against teams with a similar win-loss ratio and matchpoint score for each week. Before playoffs begin, rosters are locked so no more players can be added and brackets are created from the current team rankings in the league. During playoffs, single- or double-elimination knock-out brackets (depending on the region/division) are used. Finals are in a best of 3 maps format.

Regular season matches are played on single maps, with two halves of 30 minutes. Depending on the game type, the win conditions differ:
* On [[5CP]] maps, the first half is played until the time limit runs out, or one team wins 4 rounds; the second half and the match ends once the time limit runs out or one team wins 5 rounds. In case of a tie after both halves, an overtime round is played, which is won by capturing all points once. If overtime is inconclusive, a "sudden death" round is played.
* On [[King of the Hill]] maps, the second half and the match ends once the time limit runs out or one team wins 5 rounds;
* [[Attack/Defend]] and [[Payload]] maps are played as best of 3 [[stopwatch]] rounds. Teams alternate between attacking and defending every round, and each team defends once in a half.
* [[Capture the Flag]] are played over two halves, each 20 minutes long. The match ends once the time limit runs out or one of the teams reaches 10 total captures.

UGC is currently accepting sign-ups for its Highlander Season 11 (Season beginning 9th Sept 2013). UGC runs three Highlander seasons each year: Spring, Summer and Fall. It currently has five different regions catered to for their Highlander league: North America (NA), Europe (EU), Asia, Australia/NZ and South America. There are also different skill-based divsions for the NA and EU leagues, with the latter three leagues not having enough participants as of yet to have more than one division and the EU lacking enough participants to create all five divisions. The NA divisions also have Steel and Iron split into Red and Blue factions due to a large amount of player participation.
